Solarboat can supply a wide range of electric boats for commercial use including:

  • Ferries 12 to 55 passenger
  • House-boats
  • Hire and Drive
  • Intimate  tour boats
  • Workboats
  • Waterway trash cleaning boats

Most of the smaller vessels used for commercial work will be based on boats selected from our Pleasure Boat range (see that page).

Larger boats and some special purpose vessels will be specifically designed for their purpose, like the ferry examples shown below.

Others will be existing boats converted to electric drive.

The selling point for electric drive is often environmental - the total absence of fumes and oil-spills and the near silence of operation are immediately appreciated by passengers and nearby residents alike.  They will also admire your environmental responsibility.

Simplicity of operation, fire safety, extremely low maintenance and very cheap energy ("fuel") costs are attractive to commercial operators. Although the initial cost is usually higher than for an equivalent diesel (or petrol) powered boat, the low  running costs ensure the cost of ownership quickly falls to below that of an oil fuelled vessel.

Most of our boats are intended for use on sheltered estuaries and lakes. Boats for more severe waterway conditions can be designed when required.
